We have been working with this major operator of rail infrastructure since 1997, supplying stationery, paper, IT consumables, facilities supplies and white goods to the value of Â£6million per year.
In 2012, the client awarded us their Â£4m contract for business-critical and other operational print, based on our capability to provide on-time, accurate delivery of quality, on-brand print items to their sites across the UK.
This was one of the biggest compliance and re-brand projects within the banking industry, and after a long and challenging journey Office Depot, in partnership with the group’s programme team, successfully delivered all elements of the project in 2013.
Each element of the project was fulfilled within agreed timelines and to pre-defined quality and budgetary boundaries. No deadlines were missed and positive feedback was received throughout the entire project.
The entire project was delivered to specification (and with the challenge of constant last minute changes) whilst continuing to provide “business as usual” services without interruption.
Our client’s critical delivery requirements are extremely complex with locations varying from offices to stations and signal boxes, and delivery points vary from goods in to individual desks and even platform storerooms. Delivery instructions can be as specific as “deliver to the third door on the left at the end of platform two”. Effective management of their distribution list was crucial to ensure successful deliveries during the transition phase. To ensure we maintained on-time, accurate delivery throughout implementation and the contract term, we:
• Designed a bespoke end-to-end service plan which accurately captures the complexities of the client’s requirement.
• Set up a detailed distribution list encompassing all site-specific delivery variations. We now manage the entire distribution list on their behalf, proactively updating it as and when required.
• Adapted delivery labels to include detailed site-specific instructions to ensure drivers can always complete delivery as planned.
We collect the client’s products from the supplier at 5am each morning and transport the parcels to our print stocking and distribution centre in Leicester.
Here we consolidate their print-on-demand products with stocked print (if applicable) and also add their stationery orders (where appropriate).
We then provide consolidated deliveries to their 1,100 sites.
Our consolidation solution has significantly reduced this rail network operator’s delivery costs and carbon footprint.
